Huckabee: women’s role in marriage is to “graciously submit”

More caveman era opinions are dug up on Republican Mike Huckabee…

Huckabee’s opinion on gay marriage is out there, but we should also be publicizing Huckabee’s opinions on heterosexual marriage. Specifically, what he believes about a women’s role in a marriage.

In August of 1998, Huckabee was one of 131 signatories to a full page USA Today Ad which declared: “I affirm the statement on the family issued by the 1998 Southern Baptist Convention.” What was in the family statement from the SBC? “A wife is to submit herself graciously to the servant leadership of her husband even as the church willingly submits to the headship of Christ.”

The ad wasn’t just a blanket, “we support the SBC statement,” but rather highlighted details. The ad Huckabee signed specifically said of the SBC family statement: “You are right because you called wives to graciously submit to their husband’s sacrificial leadership.”

Add “graciously submit” to his “Take back the nation for Christ” statement, and if the media does its job, he’s well on his way to being toast. - Daily Kos

Huckabee Wanted to Isolate AIDS Patients

Alan Colmes (Hannity and Colmes, Alan Colmes Show) brings this to my attention from now Republican Presidential frontrunner Mike Huckabee.

Mike Huckabee once advocated isolating AIDS patients from the general public, opposed increased federal funding in the search for a cure and said homosexuality could “pose a dangerous public health risk.”

At the time Huckabee was saying these things it was common knowledge that AIDS could not be spread by casual contact. Nevertheless, he also said,

“I feel homosexuality is an aberrant, unnatural, and sinful lifestyle, and we now know it can pose a dangerous public health risk.” Source

Not only is this guy a neo-conservative, he is homophobic and offensive to those who have different lifestyle choices than that of his own. This guy is not Presidential material if he cannot represent all Americans, not just straight ones.

Olbermann: Pathological liar or idiot-in-chief?

Nice to have a liberal who speaks his mind with a spine and unlike his right wing competitors he speaks with authority, facts and intelligence.

You Ask the Leaders

10 Questions is a site from techPresident, New York Times and msnbc.com. It is attempting to ask 10 Questions to all the current candidates for president. If it gets answers from the other leaders it could be a great site to help decide your vote for the next American President. Below is an example of a question answered, this time from Barack Obama on the subject of Net Neutrality. Republican Mike Huckabee has also participated answering various questions.

The writing is on the… pages?

Do you still recieve those large ghastly White and Yellow Pages directories and don’t want them anymore? Well you don’t have to recieve them, not only are they not much use with the internet versions of the White and Yellow pages, mobile/cell phones and directory assistance, there is still a bit of a carbon footprint associated with the freight and printing involved in producing the products. So if you don’t wish to get the dust collectors in the mail see below for the opt out details.

Can you make do without the print version of the Yellow/White Pages etc? If so, take advantage of Sensis’ phone directory opt out service and help them to reduce their footprint. Print Directory Opt-Out You can choose not to receive specific Sensis directory print products by calling 1800 810 211. You can access Sensis directory information a lot more efficiently via: Yellow PagesĀ® OnLine or White PagesĀ® OnLine or Call Connect on 12456 and 1234 over the phone or direct to your mobile. As of June 2007, only about 450 households had opted out of recieving the phone directory.
