The Differences between Liberals and Conservatives

Psychology Today

“All people are born alike-except Republicans and Democrats,” quipped Groucho Marx, and in fact it turns out that personality differences between liberals and conservatives are evident in early childhood. In 1969, Berkeley professors Jack and Jeanne Block embarked on a study of childhood personality, asking nursery school teachers to rate children’s temperaments. They weren’t even thinking about political orientation.Twenty years later, they decided to compare the subjects’ childhood personalities with their political preferences as adults. They found arresting patterns. As kids, liberals had developed close relationships with peers and were rated by their teachers as self-reliant, energetic, impulsive, and resilient. People who were conservative at age 23 had been described by their teachers as easily victimized, easily offended, indecisive, fearful, rigid, inhibited, and vulnerable at age 3. The reason for the difference, the Blocks hypothesized, was that insecure kids most needed the reassurance of tradition and authority, and they found it in conservative politics.

My Coke addiction…

cocacola.pngI am addicted to Coke… well Coca-Cola to be more exact. I have been for a long time, it has been my choice of beverage for as long as I can remember. What is the problem with Coke? Sugar! It contains truckloads of it. In fact a can has a average of 1.08gm of Sugar1. So the question kept arising; is the sugar the cause of let’s say, some slight weight gain? Nothing enormous, but I have noticed I have fluctuated a bit lately and could the cause be sugar laden Coke? Well I am about to find out as Coke has been outlawed out of my diet. Now what to drink with that huge bowl of chips…

CNN in Australia

cnnshooting.jpgDue to the terrible campus shooting in Virginia, United States this week CNN International has been taking the United States feed. For someone like me who absolutely cannot stand CNN International and would really like a decent American News channel (as we only get FOX News) this has been a good time to see CNN America and its various programming. I really wish we were able to get the American Feed alongside International, I want to know why is it that things that happen in Asia, Europe or the Middle East are more important than American news in many peoples eyes here?
